My name is Alissa Zucker MA, LAC and I have been working in substance use disorder services and mental health for the last 10 years. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Metropolitan State College in 2008 and a Master’s Degree in Applied Psychology from Regis University in 2015. I am Licensed Addiction Counselor in the State of Colorado and have passed both the NCAC II and MAC exams to be Nationally recognized as proficient in Addiction Counseling and Mental Health.

My work has been in all areas of the field and endorses a client-centered, strengths-based model of therapy. I am familiar with multiple modalities of treatment including prior work with adolescents, inpatient facility work, intensive outpatient groups, individual counseling, couples with substance use and codependency and partial hospitalization models. I have specialized in advocacy and intensive work within a harm reduction framework and have been working to provide therapy services in the LGBTQ community for the past 3 years.

I am an addiction counselor who has been working in the greater Denver community for the past 8 years. I am well connected within the community and have worked with people seeking to make changes in their lives around alcohol or substance use and to find balance that works for them.

I utilize client-centered, trauma-informed, harm reduction and strengths-based approaches to working with people in recovery. I have a unique ability to create positive rapport and connection with the people I work with and received the Josephine Roche award in 2012 which, “Recognizes direct-service level employees in government, non-profit, and community organizations in Colorado who have demonstrated leadership as advocates who raise the standards of care for the people they serve.”

I have a master’s degree focused on social justice principles and diversity studies, with a post-graduate certificate in progress in Transformative Counseling. My studies have centered around public health approaches to substance use and using a holistic approach that addresses the needs of everyone’s lived experience. I look forward to helping you reach your goals and thrive in this new phase of your life

Patient

I have had a hard time communicating with people because of my trauma and Alissa has allowed me to open up my heart to her and I have been able to be open with her confident and I have never received the type of help I received with her. I also have never met someone who could help me with a plan so I not only just speak to her but she gives me a plan for me too help me resolve the issues that I have. She is an amazing therapist and counselor I would 100% recommend her to anyone she is the best that I’ve ever had in my 39 years. ...

She not only listens but she provides positive feedback and does it make you feel that you are a problem or you have problems but there are solutions and she helps you with those Solutions. It was very hard for me to open up to anyone in my life and she makes me feel very comfortable she’s very kind and she is goal oriented. It was divine intervention that I met her I highly recommend anyone that is going through whatever it is to meet with her she is amazing compassionate straightforward and she really helps and I’ve never had that in my life she is amazing.
